A conversation I had with with a friend had that works at a cable company was explaining to me how cable may not die out but it's sure as not going to be used as often other than to watch sports or the news and I would have to agree to that. I think that this generation of teenagers are very tech saavy and know a lot when it has to do with basic setup of a new tech they get in their hands.
My daughter for example is not even 2 yet and she knows how to work her way around an iPad to get to her games and start playing. With computers becoming stronger and mobile devices catching up the having the same or more power than computers a few years ago, people are more engaged with computers than any other device.
Hooking up a computer with the internet up to a television screen is plugging one cord into the two and there you have it, internet on tv, a match made in heaven. The internet, with its vast library of awesomeness will make anybody forget what cable is.

Websites like Youtube, Twitter, Wikipedia, Facebook and Netflix would probably be the main sites a majority of people would go on. Going beyond just those websites, if one would search... and I mean actually search for things that would benefit them in anyway would be possible to be found on the internetsss. Cable also has shows that can be found on the internet anyway so whats the point of paying extra when you technically can watch it for free on Youtube or a similar website.
Cable might go out like vhs...
